Free Monthly Lecture on Mental Health

San Diego, CA- On October 10, 2013 the International Bipolar Foundation will have their free mental health lecture series with guest Lisa Falls on, "Bipolar Disorder: Hope and Healing Through Art Therapy”

Lisa’s talk will look at the uses of art therapy with individuals who suffer from Bipolar Disorder.  There is power in the image to help understand more about where the client is in their process and help to gain insight into their healing and coping mechanisms. Lisa’s focus as an art therapist is from a strength based orientation, incorporating creative problem solving and support.

Lisa will show examples of artwork made in art therapy sessions by people with Bipolar Disorder and discuss the different techniques and interventions that were utilized according to the needs of the individual. The artwork allows for an expansion of support for individuals and their families by the addition of the art as a form of communication beyond speaking.
