Title VII is in search of 10th to 12th graders for the UCLA. TLCEE. AIR Programs Leaders project which gives Native American students the opportunity to take UCLA courses while earning College Credit (UC Transferable) while still in high school, students take courses based on Native cultural topics including: Tribal Legal Studies; Tribal Cultural Preservation; Tribal Economic Development; and Writing Leadership. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 3 p.m. Celebrating Native American Month and Honoring Tim Redbird-WhiteFox, Kiowa. Located at the Centro Cultural de la Raza in Balboa Park at 2004 Park Blvd. San Diego, CA 92101. Tim is known as a Traditional Artist of sight and sound, a singer and composer. He also has his drum group Red Warrior Singers who participate in many Pow Wows and cultural events. This is an OPEN and FREE event – bring your family and friends. Indoor Indian Market with Bombay Grill serving FryBread, Bison Burgers and Indian Tacos for purchase. Free street parking or in the parking lot across the street at Balboa Hospital.

Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Cultural Awareness Workshop “Pow Wow Dance Styles” The dances at Powwows have a strong personal and spiritual dimension. There are many different stories and interpretations for each dance, depending on tribal and family background. While they may differ in facts, they are all considered true...for truth can exist in many forms. Please join us for an evening of dancing as our instructors share their experience and knowledge with us. Potluck Dinner, Please bring a side dish, salad, fruit or dessert to share.

Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Please join the Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) at a monthly meeting to get to know the PAC officers, what the program provides and collaborating organizations. Learn what our future workshops have in store and lend some advice. All are welcome to attend this event. Light refreshments and childcare provided. Please RSVP to Title VII Indian Ed.

Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Everyone is welcome to the “Winter Party” Please join us for an evening of celebration of Winter Solstice and fun filled activities for the family. Ugly sweater contest, cake walk and craft stations. Potluck Dinner: Turkey, Ham and Mashed potatoes provided. Please bring a side dish, salad, fruit or dessert to complement our feast. Volunteers needed for set-up, craft stations and clean-up. Donations of cakes, cupcakes and pies for the cake walk encouraged. For more info, volunteer or donate contact Title VII Indian Ed.  

Also Tutoring services are available Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. In collaboration with Southern California American Indian Resource (SCAIR) Center, We provide assistance in math, reading, writing, social studies and science from introductory to advanced for all subjects.  We also help with college preparation, standardized testing, scholarships and financial aid. Summer reading and algebra workshops begin at the end of June.  Please contact us to enroll your student.
