Mother Sarita Calls On Spiritual Resources To Bless Sacred Poway Site

Although we are light years from the traditional Kumeyaay way of life.

Mother Sarita, a well known and respected healer from the Toltec Indian tradition in Mexico, is poised and directed toward fast forwarding yesterday into the present.

Surrounded by the curious, psychic phenomena seekers, the spiritually dependant as well as archeologists and other professionals who are committed to preserving the past, Mother Sarita, a living legacy, begins to recite the significance and importance of the land that she is about to bless. It is ancient Kumeyaay land and has been recognized as such by the city of Poway and the San Pasqual Band of Kumeyaay Indians.

It was a highly active area for the Kumeyaay people due to the warm climate the protection of the valley and the year-round creek nearby. The area was viewed as sacred by the inhabitants in bygone years and toady's elders are enthusiastic about passing on their knowledge while looking toward the youth to assure that an already endangered culture survives.

In attendance is Connie Messina, who has been walking a razor edge line between the two incompatible worlds of landgrabbing real estate and spiritual awareness. Her home, located across from the archeological site, has been a place of gatherings workshops and teaching for many years.

As an educator and a certified "do gooder" Connie has dedicated her professional life to improving the human lot. After unsuccessfully trying to sell her house several times, Connie realized that there was something special about her home and area and dedicated herself to preserving it.

Mother Sarita will be holding a special celebration at Connie Messina's home coinciding with the Day of Virgin Mary Friday August 15. 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
