The San Diego American Indian Health Center is providing medical services 619 234-2158 and mental health counseling/crisis intervention 619 234-0648.

The Indian Human Resource Center is providing a variety of services including   advocacy, hygiene kits, diapers, gas vouchers, bus tokens, utility assistance, clothing, emergency food, job services, as well as information and referral services for all available community resources 619 281-5964.

The Native Americans Council is coordinating a campaign to collect clothing, food, toys, etc. for the stricken reservations and off-reservation Indian families who have lost their homes.  Drop-offs can be made at the Indian Human Resource Center office (Monday - Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm)  For more info, call Joe Luna at 858 499-0284, ext.119 (W).

Both centers are listed with United Way's Infoline - the county's foremost emergency referral system 619 230-0997.

A disaster relief fund has been established for CA Tribes and tribal members victimized by the fires: Disaster Relief Fund for Tribes, Borrego Springs Bank, 7777 Alvarado Rd., Ste. 114, La Mesa, CA 91941.

Quick reminder that the November 3 San Diego City Council American Indian Heritage Month proclamation/community honoring has been canceled and may be rescheduled.

Sunday, November 9:

3 pm: a Healing Circle with songs, prayer and sharing for community members to offer support for all those affected by the California Fires.  This gathering is sponsored by the SD American Indian Health Center so that we can come together to find strength and healing through tradition. Normal Heights Community Center, 4649 Hawley Blvd. San Diego.   Info: Ellen or Jeanette at 619 234-0648.

5 pm: (please note time change) SD American Indian Community Thanksgiving Dinner to celebrate "harvest time."  Please bring a side dish to share.  United Methodist Church Hall, 4650 Mansfield Ave. San Diego. 

*both of these sites are right next to each other off of Adams Ave. (nearest major cross street is 35th) in Normal Heights.
We are asking that community members who are able to donate and cook a turkey for the dinner to please call June at IHRC (619) 281-5964.  This service will permit NAC to divert urgent resources to fire victims.  Thank you!
